All-State Festival draws Iowa high school musicians to Ames
Ames hosts the 2001 All State Festival at Hilton Coliseum this weekend with Carroll High School vocalists Dusty Heine Johnny Rowles T J Dvorak Nate Proctor Steve Anderson Holly Wonder and Ruthie Umthun in the chorus Kate Berglof Allison Berglof and Amanda Malin in the band and Adam Trachsel in the orchestra Manning High School singer Shannon Warner and Manning musicians Holly Ehlers and Jill Willenberg also participating. Tickets cost 10 and are available through the Iowa State Center Ticket Office by phone or at Iowa Ticketmaster outlets. The event marks the festival's 55th anniversary and is a top honor for Iowa high school musicians.

In Carroll County, fifth graders at Holy Trinity School Templeton Manning Community School and Glidden Ralston Community School concluded a fall session of the RSVP Speak Up program. Highway 71 reopens with ribbon cutting ceremony
Iowa DOT officials join Carroll Chamber of Commerce for a 1:30 p.m. ribbon cutting Tuesday at 1.1 miles south of Ely Drive to open the Carroll to Highway 141 segment after two years of reconstruction. Speakers include Rich Michaelis Jim Gossett and Neil Trobak. Bus tours follow and a Chamber coffee at Cabby's.
