Reagan carrier christening features Nath and family testimony
Nath helps build the Reagan, a 95,000-ton nuclear carrier at Newport News Shipbuilding. The 1,092-foot ship, with a four and a half acre flight deck, will carry over 80 aircraft and run on nuclear reactors for more than two decades without refueling. It is near completion, slated for service in 2003, with advanced arresting gear flight control upgrades and jet-blast deflectors. Nath, selected for the nuclear field, discusses safety, training, and life aboard the upcoming ship, while his wife Pamela notes relief that he stays off active deployment for now.
