Dialysis unit at St. Anthony remodeled
The dialysis unit at St. Anthony Regional Hospital has been extensively remodeled with a new nurses station and improved storage. Deb Adams said the work aimed to avoid disrupting dialysis for the 18 patients served. The unit provides hemodialysis, a 3 to 4.5 hour treatment, with 2,350 procedures last year for Carroll area residents. Nurses Adams Schrader Albrecht Reilly Ward and Irlmeier staff the unit. Dr Sameer Yaseen oversees patient care with medical directors Dr Eric Paulson and Dr Bruce Buschbaum from Carroll and Des Moines.

Volunteers, donations of 4000 dollars locally and a 20000 dollar grant from Aid Association for Lutherans support the effort led by Roman Steffes and committee chair Brad Benton. A faster schedule aims to finish before school starts, with additional builds planned in Harlan and Audubon next year.
