Balk closes long Kuemper career as educator and coach
Balk reflects on his Carroll High and Kuemper tenure starting in 1960. He coached football, led as athletic director, taught algebra and precalculus, started a boys intramural program, and later pursued real estate. Balk cites adaptability, love for teaching, and impact on students as his career’s reward. He and his wife Carol have five grown children.
