Early Days Of Abstracting And Oil Boom Change White County
Abstracting evolved with Carmi and White County as oil discovery reshaped the field. The firm built tract indexes to speed searches, with founders Parish & Parish and J I Mc Clintock among early figures. By 1923 a corporation formed. Bertha Howell Leathers led through 1965, Virginia Burris then became an officer, and the company has operated from two buildings. Directors and staff reflect a long local history, with strong notes on accuracy and quality of abstracts.
