Miss Elsie Warrell and William Verne Welfe, two well known southwest Carlisle residents, were married Saturday afternoon at 2 o clock at the Christian parsonage in Sullivan by Rev Albert Nicholas.
Mrs. Al Warren daughter and William B Wolfe son in law appear in a social note. Mrs. Edgar Kixmiller of Chicago returned home after visiting her parents Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Willis for a week.
At the M. E. Conference in Franklin the Carlisle Bethlehem and Paxton churches pastor Rev. Samuel Reid is assigned to Morris town. The Vincennes Districts list includes D. F. O Haver as superintendent and many renewals. The new district superintendent is the son of the late Charles O Haver of Sandborn and well known in Carlisle.
The corner stone of the new ten thousand dollar Carnegie Library building in Carlisle will be laid next Monday afternoon October 2 by Carlisle Lodge No 3 F and A Masons. A parade will precede the ceremony with the Carlisle Band leading to the library site where Rev Louis O Richmond will speak.
The joint high school has completed its teaching staff. Q H Greist serves as superintendent, Mrs C C Self as principal and math latin instructor, Miss Phena Dean as instructor of German botany and physics, Miss Orpha A Miller as domestic science instructor, Miss Gertrude Haupt as music and drawing instructor, Miss Dean remains after a planned Indiana University absence, and Miss Miller arrives from Mulberry Indiana.
Reverend Frank Winegar of Sullivan will preach at the Presbyterian church in Carlisle on Sunday October 1. All are invited to attend the meeting.
Mies Glenn Noke spent Friday in Terre Haute visiting local sites and meeting residents, according to an informal report from the city area.
Thomas R. Marshall vice president and Democratic candidate spoke at the Vincennes Opera House Tuesday night. A special car on train No. 93 carried many Sullivan County Democrats to the rally and sixty four tickets were sold from Carlisle.
A Jackson family reunion will be held Saturday October 14 at James Jacksons home near Pleasantville. Plans call for a large gathering with a noon picnic dinner. About three hundred family members are expected to attend.
Mrs. Charles Pearce was in Terre Haute Saturday. Guy Brentlinger of Terre Haute, was here Wednesday visiting friends.
