Mrs. E E Appler visited relatives in Terre Haute on Saturday. Dr Everett Padgett of Indianapolis was summoned here Saturday for professional business.
At the Indiana Conference of Methodist Episcopal churches closing Monday in Jeffersonville, ministers for the ensuing year were named. Carlisle welcomes Rev Samuel Reid back, noted as a devoted worker and popular figure at the parish. The Vincennes District list includes S Reid at Carlisle with other assignments under WS Biddle and district superintendent.
Mies Alice Bo Drake wife of John Drake a coal miner sues the town of Carlisle for 5000 dollars. Through Hunt and Gamidl her attorneys the suit seeks damages for medical bills and lost wages after an incident at a town crossing. The case filed in Sullivan circuit court is set for hearing next Monday.
Mrs Ora Benefiel visited Sullivan on Friday. Mr and Mrs John Drake spent Friday in Sullivan. John Spencer from Pleasantville was en route to Sullivan Saturday. Columbus Bough of Pleasantville stopped Saturday morning to visit relatives in Atticato. Harry T Alumbaugh of Anderson stayed with his parents J F Alumbaugh over Sunday. Mr and Mrs Barney Unger from Terre Haute returned home Saturday after visiting relatives east of town. Mrs Anna Hoover and daughter Hester Hoover returned Friday from Norden Minnesota to visit Elmer G Hoover.
On affidavit the defendant cites an inability to obtain a fair trial in Sullivan county. The case of John D. Prose against Elbert Anderson a city druggist seeks 310 000 for a signal scandal involving the defendant's wife. The suit draws notable public interest and is expected to reveal sensational testimony in court.
Samuel Leder a Baltimore based grain commission man of Leder Bros. was in Carlisle on Tuesday to meet with Jim McConnell a noted farmer and jersey cattle man. Leder recounted his early struggles starting in the grain business with a few thousand dollars as he travels often to share his rise.
Infant Snyder son of Ira Q and Myrtle Snyder was born June 8, 1912 and died September 19, 1912 at age 2 months 11 days after cholera infantum struck at three months. Funeral held Saturday morning with Rev Reid officiating. Burial in Indian Prairie cemetery.
The case of John W. Willis and the County Health Officer Dr. Neff versus the C E L railroad, set for September 23 in Sullivan, was continued on motion of the defense until October 1. Suit alleges failure to keep stock yards and property sanitary in Carlisle.
Bloomfield attorney Hon. Wm L Slinkard will discuss political issues at Palmer Ridgway hall Carlisle on Thursday night October 3 at 7 30. A Carlisle band concert precedes the speaking and all are invited Ozro Latshaw Secretary Democratic Club.
Charles Whitlock, 21, of Paxton, was arrested yesterday afternoon on a charge of criminal assault against 14 year old Flossie Lisman of Paxton. He is jailed here.
