Opal Boicourt six months old died after a wagon accident across Busseron Creek seven miles southwest of Carlisle. While crossing the ford rails caused the wagon to strike, throwing Opal from the wagon wheel passed over her head. The mother Julia Boicourt struggled to reach the heads of frightened mules but the child died several hours later in Oak town after medical aid. Funeral held Wednesday at the Boicourt home, Rev. Seifers officiating. Burial at Shepherd cemetery.
Rev. Samuel Reid resumes duties as pastor serving Carlisle Bethlehem and Paxton churches for a third year after re assignment by the Indiana Conference which wrapped its sessions Monday.
Miss Claire Willis acted as hostess at a banco gathering Monday night at the Willis home. Guests included Mr. and Mrs. Chas A Griffin and other local couples. the evening featured the new bunco and forty two games with curtain and string based partner selections.
A Douthitt family reunion was held at Mrs. Mary A. Douthitt’s home near Indian Prairie about 16 miles east of Carlisle on Sunday September 21 in honor of Mrs. Douthitt’s birthday. Forty people attended including George Lucas and family of Sandborn George Robbins and family Will Medley and family near Carlisle Lee Douthitt and family of Freelandsville J Douthitt and family Ed Douthitt and daughter Earle A C Owens and family Frank Robbins and family of Sullivan Archie Booker and family of Pleasantville.
The Carlisle Gas Company annual meeting at Pilmer Ridgway hall elected directors for the coming year: Wm F Dodge Joseph Hume J G Frazee J F Sproatt Dr I J Keys Homer Trimble and E W Rogers. A subsequent directors meeting reorganized officers naming Dodge president Keys vice president Rogers secretary and treasurer Hume manager.
Teachers of Haddon township held their first monthly institute at the Carlisle school building. Most township teachers attended the event and an interesting program was carried. Next institute will be held in October.
Carlisle voters will elect a first ward trustee to replace Frank Starner whose term ends January 1, 1914 a town marshal to replace Edward Eslinger and a clerk treasurer to replace Daniel V Angel. Angel seeks a second term while Eslinger and Lee Jenkins join the marshal race.

Arthur D. Cutler sold his 204 acre farm seven miles southwest of Carlisle to Phillip Diels of Marion. The farm valued at 100 per acre, with the jewelry store in Marion about 17000 in trade. Diels will manage the store for Cutler until other plans are made. A hog and cattle sale on the farm Tuesday by Cutler and tenant Andrew Fore grossed 1002.75.

Mrs. Jane Minor visited Pa ton on Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Buckley from Monett Missouri arrived Tuesday to stay with Mr. and Mrs. J F Arambaugh and relatives. H G Steel of Globe Tailoring Co will present at R W Akin's Son store on September 29 with a full line of fall and winter suitings.
