Mrs. Mary E K Menifee of Poplar Bluff Missouri died after a short illness while visiting her father Jonas Ladson in Paxton. Born June 6 1857 in Sullivan County she was 52 years 2 months and 28 days old at death. She married Bluford W Menifee in 1875 and had two children Clyde D Menifee and a daughter who died in infancy. Funeral by J M Vawter at the Church of Christ in Paxton with burial in Poplar Bluff conducted by T S Risinger Carlisle undertaker.

Transfer Issue Threads Through Sullivan County Trustees
Sullivan county trustees debated issuing transfers to high schools after a state board of accounts warning to charge back funds for transfers not backed by county diplomas. State Superintendent R J Aley advised that pupils cannot force transfers absent county diplomas, but trustees may legally grant them at their discretion.
