Mr and Mrs Albert Parnell visited Robénada LL this week while Mr avers was present. Reseos Corbin Walter O Neal and family returned home Sunday from Eaton HL after visiting relatives.
The Knox and Sullivan County Light and Power Co of Carlisle explained its plan at a public hearing before the Public Service Commission in Indianapolis to issue capital stock and build a high tension line connecting Carlisle and Oaktown with the Indiana Power Co line at Freelandville or Bruceville. Attendance included incorporators, counsel, town officials, and Oaktown leaders. No objection was entered to stock issuance and a certificate of convenience, except from I N Townsley and H T Sartor of the Oaktown Gas Co. They argued stock sales could hurt investors and cripple the gas company. The hearing, before Edgar Blessing, adjourned for a Commission reply next week. Attendees remain optimistic. construction prep and material have arrived and contracts for service are in place.
Carlisle schools opened for enrollment but could not hold classes Tuesday and Wednesday because the water supply was exhausted. A new well was drilled but needs a powered pump and surrounding room to be usable. Enrollment totals 444 across high, departmental, and graded classes with staff listed.
Carlisle Odd Fellows prepare to visit the Plainville Lodge on September 24. The degree staff will confer the first and third degrees, with forty visitors in the two teams and many more to reach one hundred. Plainville Lodge plans elaborate entertainment for a gala night.
