Louise Hamke aged 20 of Haddon township is adjudged of unsound mind by Justice Pearce Cowle. Papers for her admission to the Evansville Insane Hospital have been filed with County Clerk David Giles.
Rev Samuel Reid pastor of Carlisle M E church for five years will leave next Tuesday to attend the annual conference at Franklin He will preach his farewell sermon next Sunday night.
Shortly after noon Monday Town Marshal Steven J. Dooley and Dr. G W Pirtle fought on the sidewalk outside the Pirtle office building. No one was injured. Pirtle filed assault with intent to murder charges via Presenting Attorney M L Pigg. Dooley says the gun was in his pocket and fell to the sidewalk. he was arrested and posted a $500 bond for circuit court appearance.
Trustee T C Woodward announces the township schools will open Monday morning September 18 with a full slate of teachers. Paxton principal J H Alsman will lead, followed by Alvin McCammon Walter Whitlock Kate Nash Edna Brunker Glenn Sisson Tressie McCammon Laura McCarter Ida Hudson Nellie Waddell Tressie Willis Permelia Willis Lillie Nash Daisy Cox and Shelton not selected for assignment.
The wets through attorney John Riddle filed Tuesday with Clerk Kensler an appeal to the Knox Circuit Court from the County Commissioners decision that Bicknell was dry by a one vote margin on August 2. They base the appeal on the same issues and seek no recount.
Earl Rapp was in Sullivan Saturday on business. James Pilmer and wife left Tuesday for Washington D C to visit their daughter Mrs Clarence Ahalt and family.
In an injunction suit filed in the Circuit Court by T C Woodward trustee of Haddon township Carlisle and Haddon township schools did not open the 1916 17 term in the joint high school building. The final hearing is set for Wednesday Sept 18.
