John W Willis Buys 2300 Sheep for Self and Whalen
John W Willis returned from South Omaha Nebraska with more than 2300 western sheep bought for himself and Dr. J R Whalen. About 1500 were unloaded Saturday to feed at Whalen's farm five miles south of town for future markets. Lem H Willis of Sullivan accompanied John on the trip and John planned further purchases after previously buying 200 sheep in Chicago.

Willard Couple Thrown From Buggy Near Carlisle
Rufus O Willard and his wife from Gill township about four miles northwest of Carlisle were thrown from a buggy last Friday afternoon when a horse bolted after a stump. They were found bruised but with no serious injuries, and a doctor reported no broken bones.

The 1905 watermelon season ended with growers well paid and investors happy. One hundred three car loads shipped from here between August 5 and September 7, averaging about 1000 melons per car, earning well over 10000 dollars net for growers. The Uniform Bank of Foresters Carlisle Camp No 3832 M W of A returned home from Seymour Ind after attending the state log rolling. They won $25 for best uniformed team and showcased a faultless drill led by Capt W H Sutherland. They enjoyed the week and looked forward to rest at home.

Pleasantville Thieves Take Horse and Buggy
Frank Spencer trustee of Jefferson township reported his horse and buggy stolen from the Pleasantville hitchrack between eleven and twelve Saturday night. Spencer traced the thieves toward Linton and recovered the property near Linton as the horse returned home. Suspects Herbert Hodge Sam Norris and Lew Jenkins of Linton were jailed on theft charges after a spree that included a keg of beer and a medicine show incident.

Head Gashed Holding Frisky Horse at Blacksmith Shop
John Kennedy took a horse to J S Mavity a blacksmith shop when the horse became fractious he stood at the horse s head to hold it. The animal plunged and knocked him down striking the head with its fore feet cutting the scalp requiring several stitches.
