McCammon Sells Half Interest in Carlisle Livery to Willis

Carl isle livery proprietor Half interest sold to Edgar Willis nephew of Mrs McCammon. Trade closed Saturday. Willis joins as partner in McCammon & Willis. Willis also acquires Mack Lemon farm near Carlisle valued at 3500 with 1000 mortgage assumed by McCammon. 2500 remains for half interest in the livery.

Carlisle and Bicknell Set For One Hundred Dollar Purses

The Carlisle and Bicknell teams meet in Bicknell tomorrow afternoon September 15 for a one hundred dollar purse. The winner earns sixty percent of gate receipts while the loser takes forty. Both teams claim top amateur status in the region and have each defeated the other. The town of Bicknell expects a large turnout with Carlisle supporters likely in attendance.

Evansville and Terre Haute Railroad Declares 4 Percent Dividend

A New York dispatch dated Sept 7 reports the Evansville and Terre Haute railroad has declared a four percent dividend on its common stock, the first on the issue since 1902, signaling profitable operations in recent times.

Inspectors Named for County Election Precincts

County commissioners last week named inspectors for the November election. This township will have Geo. Pirtle as No 1, Bart W. Seever as No 2, O. J. Steffy as No 83, and John W. Willis as No 4.

Two Ordinances Dominate Town Board Meeting Proceedings

The town trustees held a regular meeting in Kivetts hall and passed a brick sidewalk ordinance routing four foot walks from C A Schu to Mrs Boushey and from that point to Ellis Greenfields corner. A second ordinance granted Thomas A Grizzle and Charles W Lisman rights to install electric light infrastructure on streets and alleys. The board also authorized payment of two fire engine notes and listed street and police payments. The meeting adjourned to Sept 20 to set the current year tax rate.

Harvester Notes Suit Filed In Sullivan Court

The International Harvester Company sues Edward Eslinger in Sullivan circuit court to collect two Wisconsin executed notes for a Milwaukee harvester and binder. Dated Sept 1 1908 in Oaktown Indiana the notes total $44 each with 6 percent interest and 8 percent after maturity, attorney fees. Plaintiff asks $130 and fixed Oct 8 as return day.

Health must heed hygiene say Dr Hurty in Carlisle visit

Dr J N Hurty, secretary of the Indiana state board of health, urged Carlisle readers to adopt sanitation and preventive care. He cited rotting produce, weeds and unsanitary privies and warned that indifference fuels typhoid in Knox county and smallpox risk in Pulaski and Fulton counties.

Miss Glenn Hoke and Walter Wilson Visit in Morris Chapel

Miss Glenn Hoke and Walter Wilson from Morris Chapel visited Miss Glenna Hoke’s sister Mrs. French Willis on Sunday. Miss Hoke traveled to Rockford Illinois last Tuesday to attend Rockford College.
