School openings delayed in Carlisle Had don Township and Paxton
Carlisle Public Schools opened with full staff while Carlisle Haddon Township and Paxton schools postponed start. Principal M F Rust resigned delaying the joint high school. Trustees Woodward say Paxton and district schools will now start September 23rd.

Gasolineless Sunday Shows Few Autos in Carlisle Area
On the second Sunday of the gasolineless request Carlisle and nearby portions saw sparse auto use. From 6:00 am to noon only ten machines appeared on the State Road, mostly physicians cars, with most counties obeying the rule.

Star Grocery Store Sold to Akin and Partners
The Star Grocery Company owned by E. H. and Roy Duffer was bought Tuesday by Miss Helen Akin of Akin Mercantile Company. Stocks will be divided among Scheurer Brothers Frazee and David son and the three stores. The Star Grocery closed Tuesday night amid the firm’s unsettled business.

The War Mothers of Haddon Township met Friday September 6 at 2 30 p m at the Carlisle Public Library. Attendees from Sullivan included Mrs Lang president of Sullivan War Mothers, Mrs Bays Mrs Harris Mrs Self and Mrs Martin. Mrs Lang announced Sullivan county War Mothers meet September 19 at Mrs Bays home north of Sullivan and invited all War Mothers to attend with free conveyance for those needing transport.
