Corner Stone Laid by Indiana Masons for Carlisle School
Townspeople and 1500 visitors witnessed the corner stone laying for the Joint High School Building in Carlisle on September 9 with Masons from Indiana Grand Lodge in attendance. Grand Master M W Charles Benedict addressed the crowd after a parade and memorial box placement, as a copper box containing Carlisle historical items was sealed beneath the stone. The day included a dinner, a concert band, and a mine tour, followed by a town meeting and a 1913 tax levy approval by the Carlisle Town Board.
