Carlisle residents can obtain coal mined at home from the Carlisle Coal and Clay company. A large supply sits at the shaft one half mile north of town. Workers are clearing entries and hauling coal while preparation continues. mining will start later when the tipple and machinery are in place. The No 6 vein coal is clean and suitable for many uses.
