The Paxton High School and Haddon Township District Schools held a joint commencement at Providence Christian Church. W. P. Dearing of Oakland City College delivered the address as six Paxton graduates and sixteen District students received diplomas marking completion of eight years.

Pearl Higgins Goad Dies in Colorado at 38
Mrs. Pearl Higgins Goad of Carlisle passed away in Littleton Colorado on May 22 1918 after a health decline. She was born March 4 1880 and married to Charles E. Goad December 20 1909. Funeral held at the Christian Church in Carlisle with burial in I O O F cemetery.

Professor Elmer Stewart longtime Carlisle grade school principal departed Sunday for Jefferson Barracks to serve as Y M C A secretary for the summer. He will keep his principal post and return in the fall. He traveled with James Alumbaugh son of Harry T. Alumbaugh Y M C A camp secretary at the Barracks.

Fire Alarm Sends Fire Engines to Cherry Street Barn
A fire alarm at 1 pm Saturday summoned the fire department to a barn on Cherry street owned by Mrs. Ida Whalen and rented by Mack Lemon. The blaze started from sparks from a burning brush pile and was quickly extinguished with little damage.

Mutter Guilty Plea In Assault Case At Court
David Mutter a coal miner pleaded guilty in Squire Cowle's court to an assault charge filed by his wife Eunice Mutter. He was fined one dollar plus costs totaling eleven dollars, which he paid. The couple were married March 15, 1918.
