Rev. S. Reid of the M. RE. church will preach a Memorial sermon next Sunday night during the regular service hour. A cordial welcome is extended to all to attend this service.
Jeff D. Jackson of Pleasantville was in Carlisle on Tuesday for business.
Ed Hoover deputy grand chancellor and Claud Thompson of Sullivan plan to establish a Knights of Pythias lodge in Carlisle with local men ready to join. Indiana county already has about 450 members across three lodges at Sullivan Hymera and Dugger. The aim is to institute the Carlisle lodge before July 30 of the current year.
In Carlisle thieves struck twice last week. A one hundred pound sack of horse feed was taken from the C. G. Padgett property barn on Lewis Street rented by the Duffer Bros. Later a meal of roast beef was taken from the L. C. Cox restaurant in the Speake building at about eight thirty. The thiefs are not identified and Cox did not hear the entry.
The Carlisle White Sox, a new team reviving the old name, debut Sunday at Curtner's Park against Vincennes Idaho Stars colored team. Manager Dr. W. A. Bailey promises a strong lineup with old Carlisle favorites like Floyd Shepherd Houck and others. First pitch at 3 o'clock.
Mrs. Milton A. Haddon of Sullivan visited relatives here Friday afternoon.
The 1915 16 school term closed with seventeen seniors earning diplomas entitling them to enter any college. Patrons day and class day programs showcased grade work and pioneer era artifacts. The Second Annual Stewart Brattain Oratorical drew a capacity crowd with ten contestants and prize awards announced by a panel of judges.
