Vigo Athletics Defeated Carlisle White Sox At Athletic Park

The Vigo Athletics from Terre Haute visiting Carlisle’s Athletic Park last Sunday played a ragged game against the Carlisle White Sox. Jay Hicks started in center field for Carlisle while Cale Shepherd pitched strongly for Vigo striking out ten. Final notes show Shepherd with 10 strikeouts to Mail’s 4 and highlight Underwood’s three base hit in the ninth inning that kept Carlisle from a shutout.

Evansville businessmen tour Carlisle industry scene

Evansville merchants Wil A. Keech and Benjamin Bosse led a five man delegation visiting Carlisle to view the Hygien Steel Enameled Kitchen Cabinet plant and local sheep shearing operations. They praised Carlisle and debated relocation prospects for their Evansville furniture syndicate while noting Evansville's existing production capacity.

County approves fee for tax collector Wellman

The Montgomery County Council allocates 10000 dollars to C. W. Wellman the tax collector under a contract with the county commissioners to seize and collect delinquent taxes. He will receive one third of amounts collected and hopes to recover about 900000 in Crawfordsville and the county. Wellman a Sullivan attorney and former editor ran for Congress in 1904 and 1906.

Hackney Opens Skating Rink in Bicknell

Paul Hackney left Monday for Bicknell to open a skating rink delayed by late skate delivery. He plans a fine rink using Richardson make skates and traveled with Hebe Jderauld accompanying him.

Mrs Nobe Burton visited relatives in Sullivan Sunday. H T Ambulaugh and sons James and Harris stayed with J R Cauble in Vincennes Saturday and Sunday. Will Kenworthy, barber in Terre Haute, spent Sunday with family and returned with son Roscoe to work there. Frank Latshaw became bookkeeper at George A Ridgway store. Linton pair H Burns visited Miss Sella Wilson Saturday and Sunday. About 100 tickets sold for Barnum and Bailey in Vincennes Saturday. Ed McCann and wife spent Sunday with Will Humphreys in Sullivan.
