Carlisle to Order New Sidewalks at June Board Session

May meeting of the Carlisle town trustees approved concrete walks on several streets pending June ordinances. Names of streets include Saline West to Singer, Sinver Hackett to Vincennes, Hackett to R P Snapp store, and others with North and South Alexander streets. Treasurer reports $8.99 left after May claims. June draw expected.

Carlisle church plans one day tabernacle erection stunt

At Christian Bible School an offering of 117.56 was collected in minutes for a one day tabernacle to be built at the rear of the church. It will be 25860 feet with seating for 250 and the Local Sens class will carry out the project with the ladies serving dinner. The date is not set but likely for next week.

Illegitimate Child Charge Against Neighbor

Early Sunday the Fore family on the Cutler farm reported to Constable T. EL Johnson that fifteen year old Tressie Fore swore an affidavit accusing DebLoss Latshaw a neighboring farmer of fathering an expected child. Latshaw was arrested near his mother’s home and bound over for Squire Cowle’s court on May 25 with his mother’s surety.

New Train Schedule Adjusts Carlisle Departures

A new schedule for the C. and FE becomes effective Sunday with two Carlisle regular stops changing departure times. Train No. 1 now leaves at 3 53 p.m. instead of 3 42 p.m. Train No. 8 shifts from 12 42 p.m. to 1 00 p.m.

Mrs. Elizabeth Welch Dies at 71 in Carlisle Area

Elizabeth Frances Jacobs Welch born July 20 1842 in Carlisle and married Daniel Welch in 1872. She died at age 71 at her daughter Mrs Curtis Douglas home after illness. Funeral conducted by Rev W O Angel at the Douglas home and burial followed in Dooley Cemetery. She leaves one daughter and many friends.

Wesley Hart Dead In Oaktown

John W. Hart died at his home in Oaktown last Sunday at 4 PM after a two week illness with heart trouble. He served as Oaktown marshal for two years and as constable previously. He is survived by his wife a daughter Miss Mabel and three sons Earl, Hubert, and Claude. Funeral and burial were held at Bethlehem northeast of town on Wednesday.

Carlisle boy Louis L Roberts a Wabash College senior gains notice as an orator and debater. He joined the Tri Debating Society with Notre Dame and Indiana University and helped Wabash defeat Notre Dame. He was elected to Phi Beta Kappa for his scholarship throughout college.

Bledsoe Learns of Daughter Dorsey's Chicago Marriage

Farmer Wm F Bledsoe near Carlisle learns from Chicago that his daughter Dorsey married Mr Frank Friddle on December 23 1911. Dorsey, a Brown's Business College Terre Haute graduate who kept books for a Chicago firm, will be visited by the newlyweds at her parents home soon.
