Canning Factory Building Burns
A fire destroyed the old canning factory north of the Hoffman mill after 2 PM on Wednesday. Sparks from a passing C E L train are blamed. The vacant structure caused nearby damage from flying embers, notably to the George Smith residence on Lewis Street. No insurance covered the building, owned by Senator C T Akin, with an estimated loss of 1200 dollars.

Carlisle Board Sets May 18 Clean-Up Day And Notices
Carlisle Board of Trustees met in regular session at the law office of Town Attorney J R Cauble. They ordered notices to Ben Cox Ira Essex and nearby property owners to construct sidewalks and directed a concrete crossing on Alexander street by the C E I Company. Street repair notices were issued and May 18 was set as clean up day with notices to be published. Various claims were approved including printing lighting street work and hauling costs for multiple individuals and firms.

Curry township approved the wet option Thursday by 101 votes amid a dispute over burned ballots in precinct 4 Shelburn. Wet supporters won Shelburn 262 to 0 while Farmersburg stayed dry by 161.

Burned hand sidelines local farmer Vince Walker
Vince C. Walker, a well known young farmer on the O. W. Perry farm near town, suffered a severe burn Friday while burning stumps. A dressing on his right wrist caught fire, worsened by turpentine, injuring his hand and wrist and keeping him out of farm work for about five to six weeks.
