Death of William Wolfe in West Oak Town
William Wolfe died at age 35 after months of illness at his home in west Oak Town on Monday April 21. He was married to Minnie Moore and leaves three brothers James Roy and Fred. Funeral services were held at the Church of Christ Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. Elder D. M. Mathias of Farmersburg officiated with burial in the local cemetery.

Stewart Oratorical Contest Sets May 5 at School
The fifth annual Stewart Oratorical Contest will be held Monday night at eight in the school auditorium. David E Stewart funds three gold medals for winners. twelve contestants present titles ranging from Gettysburg Address to King Robert of Sicily. Judges include E. C. Snarr and A. W. Youngblood with a third judge pending. The high school ends May 7, grades run to May 23, and festivities include a baccalaureate sermon by O H Greist and a commencement address by L J Rettger with a Brown Holman orchestra performing for the ceremony and dance.

Carlisle School Enumeration Shows Increase in 1919
The Carlisle enumeration of school age children under 21, conducted by Mrs. Pearl Jenkins, shows 267 total, up from 259 last year. White males 127, white females 182, colored males 3, colored females 6. ages 14 to 16 total 38. students at school 224 with 107 males and 117 females. employed 43 (25 males, 18 females). Haddon township pending completion, due next week.

Carlisle Odd Fellows Visit Plainville for Centennial Degree
The degree staff and about thirty five Carlisle Odd Fellows joined Bee Lodge in Plainville for a Centennial Anniversary celebration marking one hundred years of the order. Members came from Odon Washington Sandborn and beyond. The third degree was exemplified by Carlisle, drawing praise for the work while a grand banquet was served in the K of P hall prepared by Bee Lodge wives.

Will Sail for France Charles Roberts to serve as field secretary
Charles Elliott Roberts son of Mr and Mrs J N Roberts of this city left Monday for New York City from which port he will sail for France to serve as field secretary for the Knights of Columbus. Roberts previously served in the ordnance department in World War I at Camp Hancock Georgia and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant shortly before his discharge in December 1918. Before entering the service he held a key position in the Standard Oil Company offices at Quincy Illinois.
