Judge rules for defendants in Carlisle joint high school case
In Sullivan circuit court Judge Bridwell dissolved the temporary injunction in R T Willis v J Frank Sproatt trustee Carlisle township. He sustained the demurrer and allowed the Carlisle school trustees and Haddon township trustee to proceed with building plans and to call an election if desired. Appeal bond set at $1000 with 30 days to file.

Dorcas St. Clair 1830 1918 Widow of Jacob Pifer
Dorcas St. Clair died March 9 1918 at age 88 in Oaktown Record. She was born January 28 1830 and married Jacob Pifer March 3 1848 who died May 9 1893 leaving four sons and three daughters. Survived by C. M. Pifer W. E. Pifer and Margaret Asher plus twelve grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. She joined the Baptist church in youth and later the Christian Church at Shaker Prairie.

Huge 350 Acre Farm Traded for Carlisle Properties
One of the region’s largest deals in years closed when Ben B. Evans of Haddon township swapped his 350 acre farm, north west of Carlisle, valued at 26 250 dollars, plus McConnell properties on and near Carlisle C E I commons valued at 10 000 dollars. Jim McConnell buys the grain elevator planing mill and related buildings. Evans takes over the new property in thirty days and plans a personal property sale at the farm before moving to town. The transaction was brokered by C L Whalen.
