Carlisle Men Arrested in Vincennes for Petty Larceny
Harold A. Henderson reports two Carlisle men Edward Johnson and Tom Solen grabbed his traveling bag and overcoat on a C I train from Carlisle to Vincennes. They were arrested in Vincennes, appeared before Mayor House, pleaded not guilty, and were bound over to the circuit court. Henderson praised Police Chief Adams for swift action and plans to assist prosecutions.

Davidson and LaRue Bakery Changes Ownership

Carlisle considers Carnegie library pledge and fire equipment site
At a Carlisle Indiana March meeting the Board of Trustees debated a Carnegie Library donation and an annual $1,000 levy to fund a Free Public Library. The proposal ties town and township tax to library maintenance and site provision while fire department requests for a chemical engine building received noncommittal action.

Board Discontinues Orion Hart as Street Commissioner
The meeting decided to discontinue the services of Orion Hart who had served as street commissioner and patrolled the streets. Claims allowed included freight, cement and sewers, binding briefs, attorney fees, street lighting, clerk’s expenses, and dragging streets. The treasurer reported a balance of 3209.66 on March 1.

Minstrel Show Set for Carlisle Centennial Event
A large minstrel performance to aid the Centennial and Chautauqua celebration will be staged at the joint high school auditorium in Carlisle on Friday night March 26. Local participants have been working faithfully on the show.

Missionary Society Plans Annual Thank Offering
The Woman's Foreign Missionary Society of the M. E. church will hold its annual thank offering service next Sunday night March 15 at 7 30. A program features special music readings and a one act sketch by young ladies in native costumes of foreign countries. Everyone is invited.
