Service Flag Sunday Honors Local Army Navy War Heroes
A large crowd gathered at the high school auditorium for a service flag dedication honoring six local boys in the U S Army and Navy from Haddon Township Carlisle and Paxton and a Y M C A secretary. The parade from the Public Library featured the Carlisle Concert Band and civic groups. The 6 by 10 foot flag bears silver stars for wounded Ralph B Harper and a Y M C A star with the Red Triangle for H T Alumbaugh. Names listed include R W Ridgway C J Fritzlan Joe Engle W England and others. the flag will hang in the Public Library and on display in the future.

The Oaktown Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star visited Carlisle Chapter No.185 on Thursday night last. Six candidates from the visiting chapter received the degree, with Carlisle officers and staff leading. Refreshments of cake and cream followed the ceremony. attendees included Mr. and Mrs. C. L Harstine and other members from Oaktown and Carlisle Chapter women.

Lincoln Chautauqua Opens Six Day Carlisle Event
The Lincoln Chautauqua begins a six day program of fine talent in Carlisle next Wednesday with a large ticket selling drive by fifty guarantors. The tent will be on the vacant ground behind the public school. A Junior Chautauqua session starts Wednesday under a lady superintendent. This marks the third Carlisle Chautauqua by the Lincoln Chautauqua Association with talent expected to meet high standards.

Fifteen Boys Leave for Indianapolis Mechanical Training
