Carlisle High School Commencement Honors Culture and Character
The Carlisle High School graduation held Friday night at the M. E. church featured nine graduates led by Oma Bailey and Ozro Pifer. Rev. Austin Hunter of Indianapolis spoke on Culture and Character, stressing that character is the joint product of nature and nurture and that self control and service define a great life. Diplomas were awarded by Supt. L. R. Asbury after the lecture.

Miners and Operators Seal New Contract Ending Strike
At Terre Haute the Indiana Bituminous operators and United Mine Workers District 11 ratified a revised contract after a three week strike. The document largely mirrors last year’s terms with changes on powder delivery and a contentious fining clause. Employees fined for suspensions and managers fined for noncompliance, with fines pooled for District 11 and the Indiana Bituminous Coal Operators Association.
