The Woman’s Society of the Christ Church will meet with Mrs Jones on the Jones farm Tuesday August and. All women who have cars sed all other women will meet with Mrs Frank Alumbaugh at 1 30 sharp. Note the 2nd not the 9th. Lalu Shephird President.
May Wilson of Terre Haute abducted her four year old son James Woodrow Wilson from the Carlisle home using a large closed automobile driven by an unknown man. The child cried as he was taken and the pair fled toward Terre Haute. authorities in both towns were alerted and searches began.
The Carlisle Town Board adjourned meeting voted to retain control of the Carlisle grade school and the town's interest in the high school building. A possible later decision on joint high school control was hinted if a suitable agreement arises. Earlier hearings on July 7 and July 21 planned a July 26 final settlement.
A misset vault clock triggered the bank alarm at eleven last night. Banks staff and night watchers rushed to the scene with firearms, only to find no intruder and the gong still sounding. Cashier Kixmiller opened the vault and stopped the alarm, revealing Carlisle’s hidden cache of artillery.
John H. Johnson of Indianapolis a former Carlisle resident began decorating the Carlisle Public Library on Saturday. He is assisted by Lucian Johnson of Shoals.
D D Mills and Mrs W D Mills of Paxton Illinois with Mrs C R Mills of Chicago traveled to Paxton to visit Rev Mills last week.
Otto Davis, longtime Elizabethtown resident born in Carlisle Indiana in 1838, died at three this morning after years of illness. He ran a tin shop, then a grocery firm Davis and Williams from 1892 to 1915. Surviving are his widow Nannie Wood, two brothers A C and C E Davis, and sister Mrs John Aydelotte. Funeral Sunday at 3:30 at the Baptist church. Burial in city cemetery.
Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Miller widow of Nathan Miller died at her Carlisle home Wednesday night about eleven o'clock. The report notes the death occurred at her residence following an illness. Funeral arrangements and survivors were not listed in the available text.
Mrs. Miller, born in Tennessee on September 2, 1846, died after a prolonged illness at age 74 years 10 months 18 days. She leaves children Wiley M Miller Samuel Miller and Mrs W J Hart of Carlisle and Mrs Will Dale of Illinois, plus sisters Mrs John Bruce and Mrs Chas Pyles. Her husband preceded her. Funeral held at home Thursday at 2:00 pm with burial in Odd Fellows cemetery.
The family thanks kind friends and neighbors for their words and acts of kindness and sympathy during their mother Mrs. Mary Miller's illness and death. The Children.
Mrs. H. T. Alumbaugh and Mrs. James M. Bowen traveled to Camp Knox Tennessee on Wednesday to visit their sons James Alumbaugh and Donald Bowen who are members of the citizens military training camp.
