Mrs. Achsah L. Cartwright of Paxton died at home after months of illness from an abscess. Born February 20 1846 she was 68 years old. Survived by daughter Rheena two brothers and four sisters. Funeral at Cartwright residence with Elder Everett Stivers officiating. Interment Engle cemetery.

Many Carlisle residents traveled to Sullivan on Saturday to see Billy Evans fly the Riggs bi plane but no exhibition occurred. Promoter Claude E. Moss of Linton gave an unsatisfactory explanation after organizers had advertised a guaranteed flight for the day.

Commencement Exercises Planned by Township Schools
Township Principal J H Alsman has arranged the annual commencement at Providence Christian church south of Paxton tonight. The program features Carlisle Orchestra, invocation by Rev B H Bruner, address by Mrs Julia Fried Walker of Indianapolis, orchestra music, diploma presentations by County Supt Richard Park, and benediction by Rev S Reid. Mrs Walker is a noted educator and lecturer, expected to deliver a valuable address.

Long auto trip brings Elliott Helms home for visit
Elliott Helms son of D V Helms of south town now in Kansas City Mo arrived Friday evening for a brief visit with his father. He works for Chalmers Motor Co in Kansas City and traveled from Kansas City to Terre Haute in a Chalmers Six with a friend. They left Thursday morning at 4 00 and reached Terre Haute Friday at 5 30 covering 473 miles. Helms says roads in Br Gif are the worst ever with 150 miles of mud road in that state.

The Carlisle White Sox crushed the Linton Eagles 18 to 2 at Curtner's Park Sunday afternoon. Pitcher Glenn allowed only two hits after the first inning while Carliles’ heavy bats and strong support fueled the lopsided victory. The White Sox head to Lawrenceville, Illinois, by auto as train service misses their window.

Merom Man Stoddard Dies After Suicide Attempt
Hal Stoddard of Merom died at the Southern Hospital for the Insane in Evansville after a self inflicted gunshot wound and weeks later his remains were shipped home. He was unmarried and son of Dr Orin Stoddard. He had shot himself in the head but survived until death. An inquest in Sullivan found him insane after the incident and he had shown eccentric behavior including interest in checkers. He was also a songwriter with published works.

Culbertson Chosen Democratic Candidate for State Senator
At the Vincennes Democratic joint senatorial convention held last Saturday Frank Culbertson was named by acclamation as the Democratic candidate for state senator from Knox and Sullivan counties. John Willis was the only other candidate accredited and at the opening of the convention moved that Currigone be chosen by acclamation.
