Dr. Maxedon Reinstated by Knox County Society

Dr. Thomas H. Maxedon of Vincennes was reinstated at a Knox County Medical Society meeting in Bicknell last week, his first attendance in two years after expulsion on unprofessional conduct charges including furnishing papers with news items. The state board in Richmond declined to sustain the charges.

Curtner and Shepherd Marry in Carlisle

J Floyde Curtner and Miss Adah M Shepherd wed last Thursday night at the bride’s parents’ home in Oaktown. Rev J S Washburn performed the ceremony for immediate family. After a wedding supper, the couple and guests were serenaded by the Carlisle brass band before plans to live in Riley Knotts cottage after August 1.

Sixty Years Old Uncle Ham Wallace Celebrates Birthday

J H Wallace known as Uncle Ham was 60 Sunday and marked the occasion with a large birthday dinner attended by about 40 people. An invalid for years he enjoys outings in good weather from his wheeled chair, and the gathering brought much joy to him and guests. The News force was remembered with a box of cake.

Woodmen’s New Rates Adopted at Indianapolis Meeting

The Head Camp of Modern Woodmen approved an Iowa plan by W S Hart to cut annual assessments from 12 to 7 or 8 for new and old members but raise costs for younger and older members. No reserve fund. rates apply to entry age. effective August 15, 1903 for new members and January 1, 1904 for existing members. examples show $0.50, $1, or $2 per $1,000 depending on entry age.
