Charley Anders known as Arkan saw from Gill township faced arrest after beer orders led to a chase along Merom road. He pled guilty before Mayor Calvert, receiving a $200 fine plus costs and a ninety day sentence to the state penal farm. A shack fire at his dwelling followed the events.
Judge Bridwell sustains consolidation order for No 4 Frog Pond district in Haddon township. T. C. Woodward must merge No 4 with Carlisle schools or face contempt. Superintendent Park ordered transportation to Carlisle, which Woodward refused. Petitioners seek mandamus to enforce, with Bridwell expected to issue further order.
Mr and Mrs James Behem of Ferre Haute are seen visiting relatives on Sunday with family in town.
Mrs. Sarah E. Rooksberry through attorney Walter F. Wood sues Carlisle Gas Company in Sullivan circuit court seeking 250 dollars in damages and a injunction. She claims carbide chemicals and refuse from the gas plant flowed into a branch crossing the back of her lots. She asks that the defendant be permanently enjoined from using the branch.
Reports from Indianapolis say Dr L C McDowell of Freelandville was taken home in a dying condition after a second operation in a year. Hope for recovery had faded and he would struggle to travel home. Temporary relief followed the first operation.
Relatives in Carlisle report the marriage of Miss Cora Ferguson of Carlisle to George Harris a Detroit traveler. The ceremony occurred June 26 in Rockford Illinois. The couple will reside in Rockford and Miss Ferguson is the daughter of John T Ferguson. An open air band concert and ice cream social will follow July 26 in the Carlisle public school yard.
