Harry T. Alumbaugh came back Friday evening from a business trip to Anderson and other northern cities in the state.
A grandmother writes to the Carlisle Baking Co praising their modern steam oven and sanitary wrappers. She recalls baking with a cooking stove, notes the bakery’s wholesome bread, and asks for Devil's food and white cake offerings.
Miss Jessie M. Sentney of Bloomington came home Thursday of last week after visiting Miss Berniece McConnell.
July 15 at Edwardsport Buck, a Bicknell High School senior, drowned while learning to swim at the mouth of Planes Creek. Fred Steffy and Dan Berry attempted to rescue. Berry nearly drowned saving Buck. Buck leaves parents and siblings, mourned by friends and church community.
The text notes that Young Buck, nephew of Dr. FL Robbins of this city, and his family traveled to Bicknell Sunday and stayed until after the funeral held on Tuesday.
Eliza Ogle aged Y0 former Sullivan resident died at granddaughter Mrs Harvey Johnsons home in Sunberry Ohio after a lengthy illness and loss of sight. She lived with daughters Lizzie and Belle Ogle in Sullivan then Memphis and Sunberry. She was a longtime Sullivan Christian church member. Survived by three sons Jacob Bate Tilghman and two daughters Lizzie and Belle.
Ora Poole of Pleasantville is appointed to succeed him as justice of the peace. J F O Haver served in Sullivan and Greene counties for over 30 years.
Fred L. Orr a Benedict and Miss Cora B. Lucas were married Wednesday afternoon with Rev. P. C. Lisman officiating at his Sullivan home. After the service the couple left for Cincinnati and New Richmond for a few days before returning to Carlisle to reside on South Ledgerwood Street.
The Curtner Drug Company in Carlisle changes hands as John 5S Shepherd buys J. Floyde Curtner's share. Curtner remains briefly while Hugh McNair, a Carlisle graduate pharmacist, takes charge of prescriptions and moves his family to Carlisle. The Curtner family operated the store for nearly fifty years.
Louis L. Roberts son of Mr and Mrs J N Roberts a Wabash College graduate leaves Tuesday for Winona to help the Greek department present Sophocles Electra before the Winona Assembly. The play will be staged on July 22 24 and 27 at three performances.
