W B M Ladies Hold Banner Meeting At Miss McCernton Home
The W B M group met Thursday afternoon at Miss Glenn McCernton's home. About 50 invitations were issued despite heavy rain. Refreshments included cake and ice cream. Decorations featured cut flowers and national colors. Judith McCammon gave favors of lavender and white sweet peas. Program included songs, scripture, prayer, a paper by Miss Fannie Brown, talk by T A Cox on Hitler, minutes and roll call, and Lord's Prayer in concert. The News thanks for the cake donation.

Princeton Loses to Carlisle White Sox in Fast Sunday Game
Carlisle White Sox defeated Princeton ex-hitty league team 2 to 1 in a high tempo contest. Roseberry starred behind the plate and C Shepherd fanned sixteen in the win while Princeton made five errors and Byrne, Miller, and Malone produced the lone Princeton hits. The locals promise another meeting Sunday August 4 with Evansville Athletics providing the opposing twirler.

Open Squirrel Hunting Season Starts July 1
The open season for shooting squirrels runs July 1 to October 1 under new law. License costs $1 for anyone hunting off their land, issued at the Marion county fish and game office, others at county clerks. Despondent Girl Tries Suicide in Carlisle Hotel
Miss Altie Reed, claiming Vincennes roots, tried to take poison after being dropped at Carlisle by EB LT train. Mrs Brentlinger, hotel landlady, stopped her, leaving the girl with severe chemical burns and a note about a message to Terre Haute. A Terre Haute drugstore bottle label linked the poison to that city.

Postmaster General Meyer issues an order effective August 1 1907 allowing message space on the left side of postal cards with a vertical line to separate address area on the right and permitting back writings and thin attached sheets while restricting unmailable items like glass metal mica sand or tin to envelopes or properly treated cards.
