County Extends Support for Agricultural Agent Funds
County officials approved 1500 dollars to hire a county agricultural agent and 500 dollar private subsidies to back the move. Purdue visitation will assess grounds before appointment, with free farmer advisory services. The council also budgets 20421.90 to rebuild Island Levee in Turman township, borrowed at 6 percent starting July 1, 1914, plus 1000 for gravel roads and 10000 for new bridges. All actions passed unanimously.

Benjamin F Lucas Dies at Home After Illness
Benjamin Franklin Lucas a prominent Jefferson township farmer died at his home July 11 after several days of stomach trouble. Funeral services were held July 14 at Indian Prairie church with Rev. A M McGuire officiating. burial in the adjacent cemetery. Born August 2 1854 in Daviess County Indiana he was 58 years 11 months and 9 days old. He left a wife Laura Edwards seven children two died in infancy and numerous relatives. He joined Pleasantville church in 1881 later transferring to Bethel Baptist. He spoke of faith and the light near and left behind a large family and many friends.
