Residents of Carlisle observed a Goodyear balloon and basket with pilot R A D Preston and aide M D Tremlin traveling about ten miles per hour at roughly 2500 feet. The craft, one of nine in an elimination race from St Louis toward Kansas City, landed in Constance Kentucky after covering 320 miles. the crew won a $400 prize.

Baggageman Injured Delays Passenger Train
Train No. 2 was delayed about fifteen minutes when baggageman Bright cut his arm on a door glass after tripping near Oak Town. Dr. G W Pirtle treated the wound below the elbow and a telegram sent for a relief baggage man to Terre Haute.

Dan H Hart Succumbs In Carlisle After Suffering Dropsy
Dan H Hart a 70 year old Carlisle native died Sunday afternoon at his son Mort Hart’s home. Dropsy was the cause. He was born in Haddan township and had lived in Riverside California before returning to Carlisle. He is survived by two sons George W Hart and Mort Hart and a daughter Mrs Perrnia Alexander of Riverside. The funeral was at Mort Hart’s home conducted by Rev S Reid and burial in Bethlehem cemetery. A wind storm damaged the house during the service lifting a summer kitchen off its foundation.
