A young veterinary surgeon arrived Friday around 7 30 p m at the home of Dr D F Shake. Mother and son are both getting along nicely.
The Carlisle News marks ten years of weekly publication with volume eleven issue and notes its long survival amid changing newspaper markets. The paper commits to continue weekly output and plans to expand in size and dress to keep pace with Carlisle’s growth.
Carlisle natives Albert Helms and Ollie Perry now with Terre Haute stamping works play for the Star baseball team. Perry pitched four innings allowing two hits as the Stars beat Frank & Lon's 9 to 2 in four innings before rain halted play. The Star team sits in third place in the Commercial League with six other firm teams competing.
The Sullivan Union relocates to Citizens Trust Company building with a Cottrell newspaper press and updated machinery, claiming the best equipped plant in the county. The paper expanded from six to seven columns last week and will publish in that format. Congratulations are extended to Chaney and White for their enterprise and bright prospects.
Cuthbert J. Sherman sold his 240 acre Cass township farm to W. R. Willis of Carlisle for 9000 dollars. Possession will be given in the fall. Sherman has moved to the farm to enjoy country life. the sale was arranged through T. A. Combs of Carlisle Sullivan Democrat.
Miss Cora Blevins and Arch Booker from Jefferson Township were en route to the county capital after spending Sunday at home while attending the Sullivan summer normal school.
