Polk Refused New Trial and Sentenced in Manslaughter Case
Vincennes Ind July 5 Judge H Q Houghton overruled a motion for a new trial by Louis Polk found guilty of manslaughter in the murder of Raymond Harris at Oaktown. Polk is sentenced to 2 to 2 years in Michigan City state prison. Appeal anticipated but likely to pursue his remedy. Town Board approves concrete sidewalks in several streets
The Town Board met last Thursday and approved several concrete sidewalk projects. A four foot wide walk will be built along the east side of Alexander street from the Alexander street intersection to the William George property. Petitions seek sidewalks along Turman from Lot 81 to Turman and Eaton streets and along Eaton to Gill. A walk along Hackett street from Gill to Ledgerwood is ordered. Hearing on remonstrances is set for Wednesday July 25 at 7:00 p.m.
