Board Votes to Sue Delinquent Road Tax Payers in Carlisle
At the June Carlisle Board of Trustees meeting held in the town attorney’s office, it was unanimously ordered that Attorney Cauble sue all delinquent road tax payers to recover taxes owed. Jim McConnell was re elected to another three year term on the School Board. Clerks were instructed to issue a $25 warrant for transcript costs in the Alice Drake vs Carlisle appeal. Financials show July 1 indebtedness at $162.62 with sizable monthly claims including gas and school bond interest.

Watts Pays Fine After Sullivan Board Bill Charge
E. E. Watts a Princeton contractor was arrested last week by Constable O. R. Rich. In Sullivan he pled guilty before Justice Robert Calvert and paid a total of 21 dollars including costs. The charge arose from Watts stopping at the Arnett home while contract work on straightening Busseron Creek was underway with Gus Arnett of Carlisle filing the complaint.

Martinville School Building Contract Awarded to Willis & Sons
C. B. Willis & Sons were awarded the Martinsville city contract to build a high school. The complete price is reported as 45000 dollars with Willis contributing 15000 toward the project. Excavation work is to begin next Monday after bids and conditions are finalized.

Storm hits multiple barns on Ledgerwood street
A lightning strike during a Wednesday storm destroyed the Willis barn on Ledgerwood street and the nearby Pirtle barn with hay and building material. The Maxwell car burned. a mare was badly burned but may recover. Total losses: Willis about $2,000 with $1,300 insured. Pirtle $600 with $30,000 insured. Shepherd building about $75 with coverage.

Contractor Dischman Dies After Heart Trouble
Chas H. Dischman Sr. of Henderson Kentucky who held the contract to straighten Bus seron creek west of Carlisle died at his Henderson home Saturday night about seven. He often visited Carlisle for his contracting work but had to stop visits earlier due to poor health. His son Charlie had been overseeing the Carlisle business and notified of the condition by telegram. The remains were laid to rest in Henderson.

Accident injuries reported after carriage overturn
A carriage with Grover Seever and his sisters Ruth and Francis on the way home overturned in a ditch near the south corporation line saturday night. Carlisle was driving and suffered unspecified injuries during the accident.
