Sidewalk Case Tried in Greene County Court
The town of Carlisle sued Dr. G. W. Pirtle over a concrete walk in front of his Carlisle office being an obstruction and safety risk. Trial occurred July 3 6 with many witnesses including local residents and women who testified of falls. Judge Cyrus Davis took the case under advisement with a decision expected at the next Greene circuit court term in September.

Bumper Melon Crop Seen Around Carlisle This Year
The Carlisle area expects its largest melon crop in years with cantaloupe acreage rising from 150 to 400 acres and watermelons from 275 to about 400 acres. Sweet corn acreage grows from 52 to about 200 acres, aiming for a record shipment level as rain and hail hold potential damage minimal. Industrial agents from C and BE I and Wells Fargo Express visit to arrange handling for the bumper harvest.
