State Chemist Abandons Murder Theory in Spriggs Case
State chemist H E Barnard reports Spencer Spriggs did not die of arsenical poisoning after examining the stomach liver and kidneys. The death likely resulted from other causes with no motive established and the murder theory abandoned. The earlier claim of strychnine in flour was corrected by arsenic findings in separate samples.
