City officials in Carlisle vow a crackdown on reckless speeding. Police will increase patrols and issue stricter penalties to curb dangerous driving and protect pedestrians and residents. Local authorities urge drivers to slow down and observe posted limits.
Mrs W C Shephert daughter visited friends Sullivan Sunday as the Carlisle Town Board discussed the extent of the law in a brief community update.
Thomas M. Douthitt 75 a Jefferson township pioneer died at his Indian Prairie home Saturday after a three month paralysis. Survived by wife and four sons, funeral at Indian Prairie church conducted by Rev. Bair and Unthank, interment in Indian Prairie cemetery.
James B Latshaw 64 a Carlisle insurer and prominent citizen died by drowning in Bert Lisman pond on Harrison street Wednesday night. He left a suicide note saying his nervous system was broken and asked forgiveness. The body was recovered by neighbors and sent to Risinger morgue as the coroner prepared an inquest.
Sunday night Rush Ridgway and Carl Steffy were injured when the bed of a Ford truck tilted on old State Road near Vincennes. Ridgway suffered head wounds and bruises while Steffy had minor injuries after falling from the vehicle and becoming entangled in a blanket. They were en route with Roy Duffer and Fred Ogle.
Haddon Township Farmers Bureau will meet in Carlisle school auditorium Thursday night July 7. Public invited. Program includes business session orchestra piano solo Helen Johnson poultry and silk socks Mrs Clara Rapp address Our Agriculture community singing led by Charles Wolfe and a quartet.

Mr and Mrs G A Ridgway of Terre Haute are visiting relatives here.
Bert Hubble, prominent citizen and farmer of Gill township, died at his home near Merom early Tuesday after more than a year of illness. He underwent an operation at Sullivan County Hospital about a year ago and had been in poor health since. He was 61 years old.
Funeral services were held at Merem M. E. church on Thursday morning at ten o clock for Ceedee Mae Sprog a. The service was conducted by the wife and son and attended by members of the Cartse Odd Fellows company.
