Roy Trimble disputes our earlier report claiming a garage partnership with Wm. H. Slim Hancock. Trimble says a partnership did not exist. Hancock merely acted as agent for Trimble who owned tires and accessories stock.
Mrs Emma Hamke files for divorce from William Hamke in Knox circuit court alleging eighteen years of abuse and threats including actions surrounding a barn arson case. She seeks $3000 alimony and notes their son Lawrence C. Hamke, and assets valued at about $7000. The defendant awaits arson trial and had confessed to the barn fire.
Mrs. Fred McCoy visited relatives in Oaktown on Sunday.
The influenza situation in Carlisle and vicinity remains largely unchanged from last week with a slight uptick in new cases. Most cases are light, though a few are very serious, including Mrs. Steven Sproatt in double pneumonia and in critical condition since Saturday. Local health board keeps schools open and public venues normal as decisions note the epidemic may pass in a week or ten days.
Carlisle High School basketball lost 33 to 20 at Farmersburg last Friday. Walters and Brentlinger missed the game due to illness. Carlisle sees a rematch with Oaktown on the local floor Friday after a lopsided win at Oaktown previously.
William H. Slim Hancock waived preliminary hearing in two Sullivan court cases filed by Roy Trimble. One charge is assault and battery with intent, the other embezzlement. The cases were sent to the Sullivan circuit court for trial. Hancock posted bond signed by many friends.
Major Fred B. Johnson and Mrs Johnson visited J F Alumbaugh home from Terre Haute on Friday and Saturday. Johnson recently retired after a year at the Judge Advocate General's office in Washington. He plans to resume Indianapolis law practice, where he once worked before forming Co A First Indiana Infantry and being promoted to Major at Camp Shelby Mississippi.
