Obituary: Mrs Eliza Davis Dies at Home After Illness

Mrs Eliza Jane Davis born Carlisle March 1 1921 died at her home last Friday morning after a period of illness heart failure due to old age. Daughters Mrs George Whipps and son Philip R Jenkins of Sullivan were with her. two children survive Philip R Jenkins Sullivan and Edward Jenkins Los Angeles. Funeral at Methodist church Saturday at one with Rev Daniel Ryan officiating. Interment in town cemetery.

Obituary Summary for Mrs Davis Survivors and Family

The widow of 26, 1852, remarried Joshua Davis on June 18, 1854 and had three children, two of whom, Mrs. George Whipps and Mrs. Clara J. Malone, live in San Bernardino California. Mr. Davis died February 14, 1899. Mrs. Davis also leaves three brothers Thomas R. and Wm. C. Hoover of this place and Philip C. Hoover of South Mound Kansas.

Indiana forgery case continued to March term

The State of Indiana against Wm A. Trigg of Carlisle charged with forgery was set for trial Tuesday in Sullivan circuit court but was continued and will not come up until the March term of court.

Case Dismissed in Sullivan Divorce Suit

The divorce suit of Henry O Haver against Orpha J O Haver in Sullivan circuit court was dismissed last week at plaintiffs cost. The defendant suffered a stroke in summer 1905 and has since been cared for at her daughter Mrs George Bowman’s home in Terre Haute. Her condition remains poor and shows no improvement.

Spencer Guilty of Forgery in Sullivan Circuit Court

Jackson M. Spencer known as Roe Spencer was found guilty by a Sullivan circuit court jury after a three day trial. He faces 2 to 14 years hard labor in Michigan City prison. The verdict followed disputes over note dates and a second indictment involving a $500 loan backed by three others.
