Carlisle High trounces Oak town in 54 to 13 victory
Carlisle High School defeated Oak town High School 54 to 13 at Oak town Friday night. Carlisle led 28 to 4 at halftime with LeDune Brentlinger Engle and Colvin as top scorers and Walters strong at guard while Oaktown’s Blann Snapp were best for their team. Carlisle set up a return game next Friday and will play Plainville tonight.

Mrs W A Clark Dies Suddenly in Sullivan County Hospital
Mrs W A Clark aged 58 died in Sullivan County Hospital Sullivan Saturday morning after recent surgery. Her death surprised relatives en route to Sullivan to bring her home. Undertakers Risinger and Kresge transported the body. She is survived by her husband and several children. Funeral at Prairie Christian church Monday with sermon by George Wolfe of Oaktown. Interment in Shepherd Cemetery.

Private on Way to Get Deserter From Camp Sheridan
Private Rollie K. E. Howard of Camp Sheridan Alabama passes Carlisle on his way to Watseka Illinois to take into custody deserter John Velmas. Sergeant Faegan accompanies him to aid in returning Velmas to camp. Howard, son of Wilton M. Howard, recently farmed land in Canada before joining the colors.

Two Fords In Collision At Carlisle
A Carlisle garage machine driven by John Van meter collided with Roy Cowles’ car on the southeast corner of the square Thursday afternoon. Both automobiles suffered considerable damage with bent axles and smashed hoods or fenders. No one was injured and both occupants escaped. Curtains on both cars were suspected to cause the crash.

Small Fire at Mrs George Russell Home
A small fire at the Mrs George Russell home in the northeast part of town Tuesday afternoon triggered the fire alarm. Firefighters arrived quickly though chemical engines were not dispatched, and the fire was brought under control after a small roof hole from sparks was found.
Dugan Held on Contempt Charge After Arraignment
Alonzo Dugan, arrested in Terre Haute by Deputy Sheriff Otha Brodie on contempt of court for failure to pay alimony. He was arraigned before Judge W H Bridwell in Sullivan circuit court and released after a conciliation with his wife.
