Carlisle Red Cross launches jam and jelly drive for Camp Taylor
Carlisle's Red Cross Chapter begins a campaign collecting canned jams jellies preserves and other highly sugared foods to aid Sullivan County youngsters serving at Camp Zachary Taylor Kentucky. Donations can be dropped at the Peoples State Bank or The Carlisle News office and will be shipped after January 19.

New Town Board Organized Monday At Noon
The Carlisle Board of Trustees held a short session to bid farewell to outgoing Trustee George A. Ridgway and accept Dr. W A Bailey's resignation as secretary of the board of health. Roberts enters army ordnance service in induction
Charles Elliott Roberts, son of Mr and Mrs J N Roberts of this city, has joined the military service under the new induction plan. He remains in Carlisle awaiting orders to report and will serve in the army ordnance department, likely to report soon. A graduate of Pennsylvania University two years ago, he worked in the clerical department of Standard Oil in Quincy Illinois, and studied ordnance work at Chicago University before returning to Carlisle.
