Rufus Engle, a Purdue University attendee, returned to Lafayette on Sunday following a holiday visit at home.
A county committee voted unanimously to urge the county to build a memorial court house honoring Sullivan county soldiers, sailors, and marines from past wars. The 15 member panel asked Dr. E. M. Deputy and others to form a subcommittee to draft plans and specs, with no report deadline set.
Albert V. Helms son of Daniel W. Helms of Haddon township married Miss Evelyn Williams of Pittsburg on Christmas day in Pittsburg. Helms a Carlisle High School and Purdue graduate served in World War I with the Engineering Corps in France as a sergeant. The couple will reside in Warsaw after the ceremony.
Harry T. Alumbaugh has taken over the Ford Agency in the city owned by the W. D. Bolinger Company. He will manage the business for Mr. Bolinger and continue in the insurance business.
At a special Carlisle Board of Trustees meeting Vernor Johnson's annual report was approved showing receipts of 8686.70 and disbursements of 6547.98 with 2138.72 on hand. Two members were replaced by French Willis and George McNabb. Salary increases were approved raising trustee pay to 50 a year, with existing per meeting pay of 1.50. New town attorney bids were discussed with Sullivan's Arthur D. Cutler and Louis Meier of Carlisle as candidates.
