Misses Marie Angel and Grace Clark hosted a New Year’s Eve watch party at the former’s home for Carlisle High School Senior Class members and guests. Attendees included Paul Wolfe of Evansville Indiana Edwin Clark of Clinton and Fern Riley of Princeton. The event featured holly decor contests a luncheon of sandwiches pickles salad cocoa and wafers and concluded with a bell ringing at midnight.

New Township Officials Take Charge In Cabinet-Style Change
The Township Trustee T. C. Woodward and advisory board members Solomon G. Summers A. R. Pifer and Ed Nash began duties last Friday. Retiring trustee J. Frank Sproatt and board D. W. Helms Wm. Gethin Chas. Davidson left office. Summers was chosen president Pifer secretary. Meetings followed Friday to review Sproatt's annual report and plan duties as the new board learned their roles. Woodward will hold Carlisle office days Wednesdays Saturdays and January February March schedule office days at Paxton School last Mondays and Tuesdays.

Henry Steffy 83 of Knox county died last Thursday at his daughter Mrs Wm Collins in Oaktown from a paralysis stroke suffered about three weeks earlier. He was native of Knox county and long-time resident of Carlisle and Oaktown. Survived by six children including Mrs Collins and J O J Steffy. Burial at Asbury Chapel cemetery after services led by Rev Peck and Rev Frank Davis.

Bough Narrowly Escape Train Crash in Carlisle
Pleasantville hardware dealer Columbus Bough survived a serious collision when a C E I freight train struck his buggy at a Carlisle crossing. He was hurled about 150 yards, sustaining a deep scalp wound and facial injury, while his horse was thrown and unhitched gear scattered. He did not recall the moments before the impact but later recalled preparing a lap robe in his storm buggy as the train approached.

Infant Knotts Dies and Is Buried in Eagle Cemetery
Infant Knotts the son of Mr and Mrs Ed Knotts of west of town died Thursday December 31 and was buried in Eagle cemetery Saturday after services at the Knotts home by Rev S Reid Deceased is survived by the parents two sisters and three brothers.

Injunction Suit Next Monday In Carlisle Case
The injunction suit brought by J Frank Sproatt as trustee of Haddon township against the Carlisle school town civil town and Carlisle library board goes to hearing next Monday January 11. The plaintiff seeks to stop use of the joint high school building in Carlisle for a public library. The return day was last Monday with the judge setting next Monday for defendants to answer.
