TenYearOld Dies After Gasoline Fire Explosion
Aletha Snyder, 10, daughter of Mr and Mrs Armen Snyder, died after a gasoline explosion in a Paxton dining room. Her mother was in the basement when the accident occurred about 8 AM as Aletha attempted to light a fire with a gasoline soaked ember. She died about 2 PM at home with her sister Wilden, age 3, uninjured. Funeral held Wednesday at 2 PM from the home with burial in Snyder cemetery.

Kept Wedding Secret Since July Revealed on Christmas Day
Lieut Byron V. Hoover and Miss Ethel Jones, married July 6 1918 in Louisville Kentucky, kept their marriage secret until Christmas Day when Hoover arrived on furlough. Hoover, son of Mr and Mrs Nolan C Hoover, trained at Camp Taylor and Camp Jackson, earned First Lieutenant rank, and expects to re enlist after discharge. Mrs Hoover, daughter of Mr and Mrs W L Jones, worked as a clerk in a local variety store.
