Dr William A Lisman made a business trip to Indianapolis on Monday, detailing his plan to discuss engagements and meetings with local firms and colleagues. The brief note highlights the visit as part of ongoing professional duties and network expansion.
C W Perry and B H Duffer traveled to Terre Haute for events on Monday night and Tuesday, engaging with local groups and attendees during their visit.
The Carlisle public school and joint high school will open on Monday with all planned work except the agricultural course. Vocational law funds half salaries if qualified, but state money arrives after term ends, delaying agriculture until next year. Oak town’s K A Shanner named high school principal. A M Phillippe to lead grades and departments.
Charles A Schu sworn in as the town of Carlisle trustee at a Monday night session in the law office of Town Attorney J R Cauble. The board halted suits to collect street tax absent proper warnings and ordered the marshal to notify Dr G W Pirtle to clear obstructions in the Ledgerwood street alley after county survey findings.
Will Dale a 35 year old farmer living about eleven miles southwest of Carlisle killed himself Saturday afternoon. He left a note of distress over his mother's affairs and mortgaging her home. Funeral held at home and burial at Eastville Illinois across the Wabash river.
The Whipps farm wildcat well east of town came in dry at about 2:30 Saturday after salt water was encountered at 950 feet. Drilling paused last week to ream the hole, then resumed and yielded salt water. The well was plugged Sunday and the leaseholders Bickle and McArthur of Chattanooga are unlikely to drill further tests. Contractor Frank Breech of Sullivan drilled it.
At a Haddon township Republican convention in Kivett hall last Saturday afternoon delegates to the county convention were chosen. Delegates include C. B. Willis O. H. Greit Edley W. Rogers Jacob Combs Ed Cooper A. R. Orr Floyd Combs Daniel Hines Dan Giles Fred W. Schroeder Chas Deiss Hosea Faust and Gordon Hackney. Alternates are Frank Cox Bailey McConnell B B Evans Homer Trimble W T Alsop Frank Corbin John Ib M Parcell Wm E Cowle Louis Meier Mort Wortman J M Barcus C S Perry and A0 McCoskey.
Mrs Mae Duffer spent Monday in Vincennes according to a brief item noting her activities in the city.
The Bicknell boosters toured several towns including Bruceville Emison Oaktown Carlisle Paxton Sullivan Dugger Linton Lyons Sandborn Westphalia and Edwardsport arriving around 9 30 am with thirty two Ford machines full of visitors. Attorney Curtis Shake spoke from a car in front of the Cash store inviting locals to attend the Labor celebration and Lincoln Chautauqua. Prominent attendees included Mayor Tyler G Lawton Patrolman Mathew Atkinson William Martin Volle Barr and John Donaldson.
Mrs. Mary Mathes of Sullivan spent Sunday visiting the family of John Warner and other relatives.

Philip S Tuell Civil War veteran and father of Robert Tuell died Friday afternoon at his son's home after a brief illness. He was 71 years old and died of heart disease. Born in Jackson County Indiana he lived on a farm west of Carlisle near the Tuell schoolhouse. Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon by Rev Bennett from his son's home.
