Town officers elected for upcoming election
In an adjourned session on Thursday night April 12 the town trustees selected officers for the coming town election. Inspector Hiram Beniel. judges John M. Warner and Newton Howard. clerks Will Dale and Charles P. Smith. sheriffs Ham Stansberry and James Cummins.

Another Trespass Case In Suffolk Court
Following Charles Pearce's conviction for trespass in Squire Whipp's court, a new case was filed by Pearce on April 17 before Squire William Joyce at Sullivan. Wiley Whalen is charged with trespass on Pearce and Anna Ridgway's land south of Carlisle on April 16. Whalen pleaded not guilty and posted bond. A D Cutler hired for his defense.

Marriage of John McKinley and Mina Walls at Eureka Hotel
John McKinley and Mina Walls were married Sunday afternoon in the Eureka Hotel parlors by Rev. T A Cox of the Christian church. The ceremony was intimate, attended by family and a few friends. The groom is known as a steady citizen and Mina is the daughter of J P Walls, Eureka Hotel proprietor. The newlyweds will reside in Carlisle for now and well wishes are offered by The News.

Local Justice Scene Ends With A Small Fine
Ada Hammonds assaulted Rosa Williams near the colored school house three miles west of Carlisle. Rosa filed an affidavit. Ada pleaded guilty and was fined 2 dollars plus costs totaling 7.85 dollars, with 90 days stay. Rosa is the 13 year old daughter of Mrs. George Calaway. Ada is daughter of Jim Rouse and wife of Walter Hammonds.

Shaken Up as buggy overturns near church
Alenry Hines and his wife living west of the Lamb schoolhouse narrowly avoid injury when their buggy overturns after a mare is frightened by a spotted horse tied behind a wagon near Nash's. Mrs. Hines sustains facial cuts and is taken into Nash's house for care.
