Carlisle and Haddon Township Gift From Carnegie
The Carlisle Public Library, a $10,000 gift from Andrew Carnegie, will be dedicated next Thursday April 12 with ceremonies as the building is prepared after a delay in furniture arrival. The Women’s Co-Operative League sparked the movement in spring 1914 collecting books for a public reading space, culminating in a book shower and a nucleus of about 1100 volumes housed in the high school.

Old Fashioned Entertainment Pleases Crowd
A high school auditorium hosted an Old Fashioned entertainment Friday night by the M. E. Guild to aid tornado sufferers. The long, continuous program featured period costumes from ninety to twenty-five years ago and included songs, declamations, instrumentals, and a re seen revue titled The Ladies Aid Will Do the Rest.

Relief efforts continue after Carlisle tornado
Business Mens Relief Committee reports substantial progress this week in aiding twenty affected families. Immediate actions followed the pledge by Carlisle business leaders and citizens. Relief work bought groceries clothing furniture stoves and bed clothing while families decide their longer term housing arrangements, with remaining work continuing.
